Workers Are Few

Many get a call, but few actually pick up and answer their call. Fear is the most common excuse, but other excuses circulate around doubt, guilt, shame, or worry. Here’s my question though: if God is calling you to do something, why would you not do it?

Let’s think about this for a minute. God created the universe, He flooded the entire earth, He rescued His people many times, He parted the Red Sea, spoke through a burning bush; Jesus performed countless miracles, including healing dozens and raising people from death, and the Holy Spirit gave the skill of speaking different languages to the disciples. And that’s just the beginning.

We don’t serve a puny god, we serve the one who created life itself. So why would we be afraid to do what He calls us to? What fear is holding you back today? What credit are you not giving to God that makes you doubt Him?

“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” -Matthew 9:37-38

“What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all- how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.” -Romans 8:31-33
