How many times do we fight God for control? It can’t just be me. The priorities shift at some point, we build valid excuses for not getting things done, or we sulk and self sabotage our day from our own heads. This could be a season of devastation, of bad health, of job loss, of just confusion for next steps for you. Our response is a decision that will either make us or break us.
Over the course of the last year, everyone has had their struggles. I’ve wrestled with letting my readers down without enough content. But what I thought was a valid excuse turned out to be a battle of control. I thought I had the right plan. While I acknowledged God was in control, I bartered my way from place to place, linking each decision with a step of faith… in myself. I kept trying to force myself where I wanted to be instead of trusting God to deliver me.
I never doubted that He had a plan, but I also had one that I thought looked pretty great. When everything around me disintegrated into dust, I had nothing left but to blindly trust God’s lead. Once I did, He immediately revealed where I was going and what I’d be doing. Where I am could not have been a better fit. God doesn’t want us to have a mediocre flowery picture of a life. He wants the best for us and to trust Him to deliver that to us.
While I’m learning this, I look to the story of Esther. She had no idea that it would be up to her actions to deliver the Jews from Haman’s plot. She stuck the course of becoming queen, but it wasn’t until she was there that God revealed how He would use her position.
Translate this into your life. Where are you that God is going to deliver you or show His glory through your story in this season? Are you bartering your way one day at a time – yet feeling drained each night from that fight? Maybe it’s time to retire that mindset and rely on God to lead your path.
“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” – Esther 4:14
“In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:4-6
Real, encouraging and well written. Good use of the few minutes to read & think about.
Thanks for this.
thanks, very interesting 🙂
