Take a Number

1440. Some people will look at that number and know it’s the number of minutes in a day. Numbers are used to represent things. Statistics, rates, identification, just to name a few. We know there’s 365 days in a year. We know there’s 24 hours in a day. There’s 1440 minutes in a day.

There’s 1440 opportunities to make a difference today. Aside from the daily grind and sleeping time, there’s still several opportunities available when you look at the numbers. Maybe you can help a neighbor with something. Maybe you can volunteer somewhere. Maybe you can help someone at work. Maybe you can spend some quality time with family or friends. Or take a moment to make a phone call to make someone’s day.

Sometimes the simplest things make the biggest difference. And what would that look like? What would it look like to spend a few extra moments in the Word or in prayer? To lift up someone in prayer instead of complaining about it?

We talk about doing things, but do we ever take the chance to do them?

The challenge today is to take an opportunity. Take a number. Make a difference for the kingdom today.

“Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it- he will be blessed in what he does.” -James 1:23-25

“Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” -1 John 3:18
