It takes 6-8 weeks for a broken bone to heal. But no one can give a time frame for a broken heart. That pain that consumes your chest and you wonder what it ever felt like to not have an aching feeling where your heart once was.
Maybe it was a relationship that you thought was going in the right direction, until it wasn’t. Maybe it was security in yourself as you continued to perform at work, until the security was gone. Maybe you had confidence in a friend, family member, or coworker, but the betrayal corrupted the chance to rekindle that relationship. Maybe you thought everything was okay, until the doctor report came back.
So many things can feel like the rug was ripped out from under us. And where do we go when we’ve lost security and comfort where we were? Do we trust God when He says He is the Healer? Do we trust the process of healing even when we don’t know how long it will take?
Maybe your heart won’t be in the same condition it was in, but God will guard it and make it stronger for what comes next. And the scars you’ve gotten along the way can bring you closer to others who are battling similar things. My prayer for you is to have hope in this healing process.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” -John 14:27
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.” -1 Peter 2:24
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” -Matthew 11:28-29
