Day Planner

Raise your hand if you’re a planner. Keep your hand up if everything always happens exactly as you planned it without a single discrepancy. It’s so hard to juggle everything in life or plan ahead when the unexpected pops up. If you could just finish the checklist for the day then tomorrow would be so much lighter.

Maybe it’s not just the daily grind you’re wrestling with. Maybe it’s planning the future: a new job, a future family, a dream home. Some of us we get so caught up in planning ahead we miss what’s happening in front of us each day.

Now I don’t know about you, but I fit in both of these positions. I want to believe God has a plan, but I also have my plan that seems pretty good to me. But God’s plan is so much more than we could imagine. Sometimes we don’t see it, but one day we will understand. God provides what we need when we need it, not necessarily all our wants when we want them. Trust for daily bread not just the future one day.

“Two things I ask of you, O Lord; do not refuse me before I die: Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.” -Proverbs 30:8-9

“He said to them, ‘When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.” -Luke 11:2-4
