Crutches

There’s a lot of things that can get us by in life. People turn to alcohol, substances, or even relationships to try to fill the hole they feel. Otherwise incomplete, people begin to depend on these things to carry them through every day.

Sometimes it begins with a bad night. Maybe a series of nights. Something tragic hits, something unexpected comes, something out of control takes place.

What if instead of using something as a crutch, we allowed God to carry us instead? We may be wounded and fighting to keep going. But we don’t have to do it alone. We can trust God to carry us every step that we can’t take ourselves.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” -Exodus 14:14

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor?” -Isaiah 40:11-13
