We’ve all heard the line: ‘bad things happen to good people.’ Matthew 5:45 says, “that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and unrighteous.”
If we examine this a little, we reach a place where we can see that the bad things didn’t come from God, but He allows them to happen in order for us to grow closer to Him.
Look at Job, the entire book shows the story of a man who lost almost everything, but he chose to be faithful and God blessed him for that. Even Jesus before he was arrested saw things were going to be bad and he prayed to God. These are just two examples from the Bible, and I’m sure there’s more.
Don’t give up because you don’t feel as blessed through your bad times. My encouragement is to stay faithful in prayer and grow closer to God through it. There isn’t a single tear wasted, there isn’t a restless night wasted, all things are counted by God. He uses it all for His glory.
“Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” -1 Corinthians 15:58
