Empty

Bone dry, nothing left, empty. It’s more than a state of an object, it’s a feeling. It’s a description. People make empty promises with no intentions to keep them. People say empty words which become meaningless once spoken. When people leave us, we lose some part of ourselves. When people torment us, our emotional drain is powerless.

So when we feel so empty we don’t know if we’re going to take another breath, what do we do? How can we cope when the heartache is so deep that we physically can’t move? Do we go to people who have only harmed us in an attempt to reconcile what’s been lost? Do we try to escape the feeling of it all through means of substances?

What if instead of focusing on the emptiness, we chose to look for something to fill it? Your heart yearns for love, acceptance, comfort, peace, and good things. You might be weighed down and heartbroken, but that never separated you from God. His love for you is a power that can overflow any container.

You may have lost something, or maybe you’re just drained empty. But God is still here, and it’s His pleasure to fill you with hope today.

“On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” -John 7:37-38

“May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. May He strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all His holy ones.” -1 Timothy 3:12-13
